December Activity

December Activity

A Pinch of Service & A Dash of Caroling

Join us as we serve the missionaries in our ward by wrapping holiday surprises! We will have goodies to munch on and socialize. Then, we will break off into groups and on your ride home you will make 1 stop to visit a fellow sister in their home to do some good ole fashion Christmas caroling! This really gets you in the mood and it you will leave this short activity feeling uplifted.

Please signup to bring an item to donate for the Elders. You may still donate if you do not come to this activity. Just make arrangements with Emily or Janine to drop off your items in advance. We need 3 of each item since we have 2 missionaries in our ward and Elder Roberts as well.

November Activity

Relief Society's Fall Fling

Get Your Craft On!

Thursday Nov 4 ~ 7pm

Join us for an evening of crafts & food! Last year’s holiday craft activity was such a hit that we have decided to combine it with our quarterly activity. Please make sure you review the sign-up booklet so you can see exact details and instructions. Samples of each craft will be on display every Sunday.

Our Activities Committee is providing the munchies and there will be some home-brew root beer too! Please come and feel free to bring a friend! Everyone will go home with a little holiday cheer--a present from our committee to you. Thanks for making all our events a success!

UPDATE: You can do as many (or all!) crafts as you want. Except you may have to budget your own time and take some things home to finish.

Featured Activities
Casserole Glass Etching: We will learn how to etch our name (or phrase) onto our glass casserole dish (or whatever else you bring). Now when you go to a potluck, your casserole dish won't walk away! Some supplies and materials are needed, review booklet. You will need to signup in advance so we can have your name cut-out and ready. Taught by April S.

Frayed Rosette Hair Accessories: These would make great gifts for your girlfriends! They are very easy to make. You can put them on a headband, clip, lapel pin, or group them together and make a "bib necklace" that are popular right now. There are many samples online and on Etsy, so browse the web for some ideas on how to spice things up. Bring some rhinestones or pearls and really dress them up! Some supplies needed, review booklet. Taught by Lindsay H.

Hooded Bath Towel: Freshly bathed kids are scrumptious, and they look even more scrumptious in these cute towels! Some supplies are needed along with a basic knowledge of sewing a straight line (although we will have instructors to help you learn!). You can embellish with ribbon or leave it plain. Review booklet for details. Taught by Melinda D and Michelle H.

Carseat Canopy: Keep your little sweetie snug and warm this winter with a carseat canopy. These blankets attach to the handle of the seat to prevent it from blowing/falling off. Plus they just look cute! This is a very basic pattern (as in sewing 4 straight lines) and our talented Kim G. will be on hand to help you. Great for your first sewing project! It can be as simple or fancy as you make it! See more. See supply list below.

Bead Swap: There will be a table dedicated to swapping and exchanging. Here's how it works--maybe you have lots of beads that you are tired of. Bring them, and you can barter with other gals and exchange. Therefore freshening up your supply! If you have some of your own bead projects to work on, feel free to bring them and chill at the table!

Dessert Exchange: Why limit it to a “cake walk” when it could include all types of desserts?!? Bring a dessert to share and you will be able to trade, mix, match, swap, etc to your hearts content. So if you aren’t interested in the other crafts this evening, please still come and participate in this dessert exchange. Everyone who brings an item will be going home with a plate of goodies! Idea: Bring an extra bag and a little note with you to this event, then drop off some goodies to your Visiting Teachees on your drive home!

February Activities

Up Close & Purse’onal!
Thursday, February 4 at 6:30pm
When you get a new purse or clean out your purse everything is so neat and organized, then as you go through your life you fill it with stuff, sometimes clutter but often times good stuff.

However sometimes your purse is so full that you can't find what you need or have room for the essential things that you quickly need access to in a pinch.

Sometimes we fill our lives with so many things that we think are good and worth carrying around, that there is no room for the great essentials. We forget to clean out our purse until it is too heavy to carry.

Join us for our RS quarterly activity as we take time for some purse’onal reflection---how much are we carrying around in our life’s purse?

Dinner & childcare provided. See sign-up sheet in RS notebook if you would like to help.

Please bring a contribution to help fill up our purse with donations to the UNC Lineberger Cancer Center.
Donations should be focused on age group 18-25 yrs, and all items should be new. Suggested items: soft cozy socks or slippers, fleece blankets, playing cards, crossword puzzles, sudoku, large cotton or rayon scarves for head wraps, hats that will cover the hairline, journals, scrapbook supplies, individually wrapped hot chocolate, cup-of-noodles, herbal tea, gently used magazines, light hearted books.

Valentine Sugar Cookie Exchange
Wednesday, Feb 10 at 10am

Join us as we frost, decorate, eat, and swap cookies! Children are welcome to participate. Please see the RS notebook to signup & bring an item.
